How Long is a Football Game? (All Levels Answered)

The game of football, and how it’s built, is similar for all skill levels.

The game consists of four quarters, with a halftime between the second and third quarters.

After the four quarters are over, there is an overtime period if the game is still tied.

While this structure is true for all levels of football, how long each of these quarters are, as well as the halftime, differs for each level.

The “Roughing the Passer” Penalty in Football (Explained)

Defensive players try to pressure the quarterback on passing plays to cause an errant pass, force a fumble, or get a sack.

They run at full speed in pursuit of quarterbacks, which often ends up in a high-impact collision.

Many of these collisions are completely legal, as contact is all part of the game of football.

However, there are instances in which defensive players break the rules of the game and commit what’s called a Roughing the Passer penalty.
